Aviotec International is the technical consultant to a local Mauritanian developer (Najah Major Works S.A.) constructing the new Nouakchott International Airport located on a greenfield site 20 km north of the capital.

Once operational in Q3 2016, the airport will have a capacity of 2M passengers per annum and will be able to accommodate up to ICAO Code F aircraft (A380).  The development will include 2 runways (the longest being 2,800 m or 9,186 ft), a 30,000 m2 passenger terminal building with 6 bridged gates, a 3,000 m2 presidential terminal, air cargo facilities, aircraft maintenance hangar, air traffic control tower, fire fighting station, catering facilities and other related facilities & services.

Aviotec's role has included various planning, aeronautical zoning and noise studies, technical advisory, design peer review and compliance assessments for the airside and ancillary facilities.  In addition, Aviotec has prepared a feasibility study for the operation and management of the new airport and development of a Special Economic Zone through a private sector concession.
